Built on the Dessert family farm just outside of Kununurra, the small pot distillery was created entirely by hand. Everything, from the still to the building itself, was crafted from materials found around the farm.
Spike even taught himself to distil, with nothing more than a passion to make good, honest Australian rum. This was rum, done Spike’s way.
It might not be the world’s prettiest still, but it’s ours.

We started from pretty humble beginnings. Literally printing labels on a bubble jet printer but that didn't mean we cut corners in making the product. Spike took great pride producing one of Australia's best rums.
Our Premium Ord River Rum has won more awards and gold medals than we can count.
We have upgraded the labels a few times over the years but we have not changed the recipe Spike and his son-in-law, Paul, developed all those years ago.

With Christmas fast approaching we thought this would be the perfect time to distill our first VINTAGE Spiced Rum.
The first thing to note about a Vintage Rum is that it has a lot of barrel aging behind it. For us, that means a blend of 7-year-old and 15-year-old rum. Lots of floral-woody bouquets, and subtle notes of cinnamon, raisins and vanilla giving an interesting complexity. Perfect with a gingerbread cookie this Christmas we reckon!
Rich has put together a batch of 398 bottles for us, and this rum is available on the website NOW. Just like everything in our Limited Release Series, these are bottled once, then gone forever!
